Residential Metal Roofing hits the mark

The Future of Metal Roofing

The success and growing popularity of metal roofing in both commercial and residential applications is encouraging, but those of us in the industry must recognize there are still challenges ahead. For instance, far too many homeowners still operate under old misconceptions about "noisy" metal roofs that "you can't walk on." Indeed, the old images of rusty corrugated roofs on rustic old barns are still with us.

Fortunately, the metal roofing industry has taken proactive steps in recent years to help educate consumers about the true state of the art in metal roofing. Industry leaders have invested considerable time and money to promote the product and overcome outdated stereotypes. The Metal Construction Association, the Metal Roofing Alliance and other industry associations are creating new levels of consumer awareness. These efforts, coupled with recent high-profile marketing campaigns by the Metal Building Manufacturers Association and the American Iron and Steel Institute, are helping to promote metal roofing's advantages to consumers and building professionals alike.

As a result, an ever-growing number of architects and builders are coming to recognize the benefits of a premium roofing product that can last a lifetime. What's more, as the speed of information continues to increase, we can expect more and more homeowners will discover the good looks, cost effectiveness and environmental benefits metal roofing can provide to their homes.
